Our Story

Modern Roots Candle Company is a faith-based Christian candle company rooted in Christ and founded in 2023. We inspire to share the joy of the Good News and Love of Jesus with each hand-crafted candle. 

Thanks for stopping by. I am Nissa the owner and candle maker of Modern Roots Candle Co. pictured with my husband Matthew who has encouraged me along this journey.

In 2022, I desired to create a business and a product that glorified God and shares His Good News, as well as, encourages others to share their faith in Jesus. Therefore, I merged my faith with something my husband and I truly love and enjoy, and that is candles. 

With the wisdom of Colossians 2:6-7, to stay rooted in our faith in Him, the name of Modern Roots was created. However I didn’t want to create any candle, I wanted it to be natural and non-toxic but affordable. After a ton of research, I set out to develop a collection of candles free of paraffin, phthalates, and carcinogens.

It has been a heartfelt journey with 11 + months testing and designing each candle. Every one is inspired by a bible verse and paired with colors and scent notes to match. Our candles are designed with a modern aesthetic to match any home decor style, hand-crafted with 100% natural soy wax free of paraffin, natural crackling wood wicks, and clean fragrances that are free of phthalates and carcinogens, and infused with essential oils.

It has been a project of love and care. We hope you enjoy them, share them with your friends and family, and spread His good news along the way.

Located in North DFW and built with care, grace, and passion. Our candles are hand-poured in small batches and/or made to order.
